Some traditions have turned international because they show a big part of the culture where they were born. One of them is the Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos,) a Mexican celebration that takes place each November 1st and 2nd to celebrate all those loved ones that are not with us anymore. For these altars are settled, graves visited, offering them things they used to love, among many more details.
Corpus Christi is a city that has adopted this festivity and this upcoming November 2nd will take place the twelfth edition of the Day of the Dead Street Festival, a celebration you cannot miss.
The festival will take place at K Space Contemporary, as of 3 pm to 12 am and will have free concerts with Latin influenced music and recognized bands from Texas. Likewise, cultural acts will be performed in three different scenarios. This year the special guest will be the Kings del Wepa from Coahuila, Mexico.
As Mexican culture is one of the most famous worldwide, they will have an artisan market, jewelry, an art exhibition, Catrina makeup, as well as handmade Calaveras. And for the little ones, there will be a kid’s corner space where they can make handwork, games, escalate walls and a mural painting.
One of the most famous sections in the festival is the Walk of Remembrance in The Ritz where a unique experience is lived since a moving tribute created by inhabitants of Corpus Christi, besides a tribute can be left for those love ones that are not with us anymore.
