In Oaxaca, Mexico every year a great celebration called La Guelaguetza takes place.  Its name refers to sharing or exchanging, therefore, such celebration is about it, each region in Oaxaca shows the most valuable of its cultural heritage, customs, and traditions through music, traditional costumes, food, items, and dances.  At the end of each, they give t food, crafts, and hats, among other things to the public.

As McAllen is a city that shares part of the Mexican culture, the Chamber of Commerce is proud to present MXLAN, a festival that brings Oaxaca to McAllen for 5 days.

The festival begins on July 24th and ends the 28th in the city of McAllen.  There you would enjoy music, art, culture and much more, to celebrate the influence Mexico has in the world and what better way to learn about it than living it.

For five days the event will be free of charge and will take place in McAllen Convention Center, where through each Street you could enjoy urban artists, artisan shoe market, leather, artisans and more, as well as music from artists such as Invasores de Nuevo Leon, La Sonora Dinamita, Las Fenix, DJ El Dusty and more.  There will also be Fireworks.

Different experiences will take place with an extra cost such as a 5K Neon Run, a food tour, the Tequila and Mezcal festival, the Hermanos Vazquez Circus, and of course the live presentation of La Guelaguetza, where gigantic dancing dolls and regional music will be experienced.  These events will cost as of 20 USD.
